A common scam

A call about Medicare can be fake.

Medicare won’t call, text, or email you out of the blue to ask for your Medicare number, sell you a plan, or offer free equipment.

Hang up. Call 1‑800‑MEDICARE yourself.

Real Medicare cards are free and arrive in the mail on their own. Treat your Medicare number like a credit card number: share it only with your doctor, your pharmacy, or Medicare.

If you already gave it out, call Medicare at 1-800-633-4227 and watch your statements for things you never received.

Open Enrollment, October 15 to December 7

This is when the calls peak. For free, honest help comparing plans, call the Senior Medicare Patrol at 877-808-2468.
